Vandaag is een wetenschappelijk artikel gepubliceerd door mijn collega's en ik. De inhoud is voor de verandering niet beoordeeld (ook wel "ge-peer-reviewed") door andere wetenschappers, maar door tieners! Het blad 'Frontiers For Young Minds' is dan ook een uniek tijdschrift: de jongeren hebben daar de touwtjes in handen. En dat is een win-win: jongeren raken op deze manier direct betrokken bij de wetenschap en tegelijkertijd leren wij als wetenschappers weer hoe we ons onderzoek het beste kunnen uitleggen aan de buitenwereld. Heel tof vind ik dat! Het artikel, wat gaat over het 'gebalanceerde dodelijke systeem' van de salamanders die wij onderzoeken, is in het Engels geschreven. English: My colleagues and I published a scientific article today. For a change, the content has not been peer-reviewed by other scientists, but by teenagers! The journal 'Frontiers For Young Minds' is unique in this way, as the kids are in control. This is a win-win: young, talented people are getting involved in science directly and at the same time we, as scientists, learn how we can tell the story of our research to the outside world in the best way.
